General Scope and Summary 

SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for a highly visible role in Financial Planning & Analysis. As Senior Manager, FP&A, this individual will partner with key functions including Sales, Marketing, and Commercial Operations and provide financial and analytical support for Sage’s collaboration with Biogen. This includes serving as US Commercial business partner and coordinating joint financial forecasts and reporting across the Joint Commercialization Committee (JCC) for Zuranolone and SAGE-324. This role requires establishing strong relationships with key Biogen staff on joint planning and reporting teams and nurturing strong relationships with Sage Senior Management.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide budget owners visibility to spending trends, financial commitments, and progress against goals; actively help budget owners manage spend to plan.

• Prepare and present monthly financial and operational reporting package with commentary. 

• Assist in reviewing business functions' financial results following each month and quarter end financial close; provide explanation and support of variances of actual to budget/forecast.

• Ensure alignment with functional business partners to identify risks and opportunities to support latest estimates and material changes to the business.

• Work with the Director, FP&A to provide financial leadership and help drive effective planning and decision making as Sage commercializes Zuranolone. 

• Work as part of the Finance Working Group for the Biogen collaboration. 

• Partner with People & Experience to provide comprehensive resource planning (FTE costing and tracking).

• Partner with Digital & Enterprise Capabilities to support commercial infrastructure.

• Identify opportunities to improve current processes to eliminate inefficiencies. 

• Support broader organization through ad hoc projects and analysis. 

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans and recommendations. 

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or finance/accounting/economics.

• 5+ years of overall combined finance, FP&A, or accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA/Master’s degree preferred.

• 7-9 years of combined finance, FP&A, or accounting experience.

• Biotech, biopharma, or healthcare industry experience.

• Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed analysis. 

• Strong Excel skills and hands-on experience with analysis and modeling; proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Oracle ERP system.

• Proven subject matter knowledge, demonstrated attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively with the team. 

• Demonstrated ability to perform and thrive in a high growth company and ambiguous situations.

• Prior experience working with tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities simultaneously, as well as demonstrated responsibility for accuracy and timeliness.

Benefits and Compensation

The base salary hiring range for this position is $122,999 - $169,124.*

• The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, education, skills, and performance.
• This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the bonus varies based on performance and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program.
